Privacy and terms
This is a plain-language description of what this you? keeps and what you can do about it. It is not legal advice.
What we store
Only public Bluesky data:
- Profiles of accounts that are looked up, and of accounts around them: handle, display name, avatar address, and follower and following counts.
- Their public posts and interactions: replies, reposts, quotes, likes, follows and public blocks.
- Starter packs and user lists, and who is in them.
- Daily totals of interactions toward large accounts, from Bluesky's public stream.
- What we compute from these: neighborhood maps, groups, word clouds and amplification views.
- For deletion requests: the requesting account's identifier and handle, and the IDs of the messages we processed. Never the message text.
What we don't store
Passwords, private posts or messages, or anything that is not public on Bluesky. There is no analytics and no tracking. The only cookie is the sign-in cookie, used while the site has a password.
What we don't do
We don't put a score, a place in a list, or a label on any account. Counts are lower bounds: they are what we have seen, and the real number may be higher. Being close to another account on a map is not the same as liking it.
How long we keep it
Data is kept until it is deleted on request. Backups are kept 7 days on the server and up to 14 days offsite, so deleted data can remain in backups for up to 14 days. Server logs rotate and hold no handles or account identifiers.
Delete your data
Send a direct message to @thisyou.net on Bluesky saying "delete my data". It is automatic and acts only on the account that sends the message. Only the account itself can ask.
What is deleted: the account's stored data, and its appearances in other people's views.
What is kept: other people's own posts that mention the account. They are shown without it.
