What these numbers are, and are not
Each bar counts likes, reposts, replies and quotes aimed at the accounts above the chosen threshold on one UTC day. "Among accounts above the threshold" counts only those that came from accounts also above it; "From all other accounts" counts everyone else.
Counts are lower bounds: at least this many, in what we have seen. They cover only events aimed at the large accounts the collector tracks (100,000+ followers when collected), and only days since collection started. Recent days are read from the collector's own table; older days are read back from our archive once they leave it, and the note above the chart says when those counts were last brought up to date and which days, if any, could not be read.
The threshold uses the follower count we last stored, not the count on that day. Accounts whose follower count we do not know are counted under "From all other accounts" and reported above the chart, never dropped.
Accounts above a followers threshold interact with each other for many ordinary reasons: shared communities, the same news cycle, replies in the same thread. A day with more interactions says nothing about intent; a news moment, a popular post or one long thread can lift a single day. A day at zero can mean collection paused, not that nothing happened.
The threshold is a set of accounts, not a list: no account is named, ordered or scored here. Fewer than 20 accounts above a threshold shows nothing, and so does a threshold that differs from another one shown here by fewer than 20 accounts, since comparing the two would point at those few. Accounts that opted out are left out on both sides.
